hydrocarbons, nomenclature, structure, physical and chemical properties, synthesis and
reactions of ethers, epoxides, ketones, aldehydes, carboxylic acids and their derivatives.
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy NMR 1H and IR. Introduces methods of synthesis
and analysis of pertinent organic reaction types (for Master).
 Analytical chemistry (Bachelor and Master’s degree)
Gravimetric Analysis, Errors in chemical Analysis, Volumetric analysis (Acid-Base,
Precipitation Complex Formation and Redox Titration. Spectroscopy), Spectrophotometry
and Fundamentals on Separation Methods (mass spectrometry, chromatography methods);.
 Advanced Chromatographic Technics (HPLC, GS, RL-HPLC), (Master’s degree)
This course was developed to provide the student with an advanced understanding of the
theory, practices and instrumentation associated with chromatographic separation
techniques used in Chemical Industries. This will enable them to select an appropriate
separation technique for a given analysis in a range of industrial environments.

This course was developed to uses of the 4 spectroscopic methods, UV, IR, NMR, and mass
spectra for identification of organic compounds. The following methods are explained and
examples given. It is designed for students of organic chemistry taking a course in the
structural information from UV, IR, Raman, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, Mass and 2D NMR.

This class will cover the chemistry of a number of families of plant-derived natural products,
including, terpenoids, phenolic compounds, and alkaloids. The coverage of aspects of the
chemistry involving these natural products may include biosynthesis, chemical synthesis, and
medicinal chemistry applications. The historical and current roles of select natural products,
such as tetrahydrocannabinol, taxol, heroin, and quinine, in society, may also be discussed.
 Bioactive Molecules (Master’s degree)
The course is an advanced course in organic chemistry emphasizing the chemistry of low
molecular weight bioactive molecules including natural products; their biological mechanisms
of action, properties and general aspects of drug design. The course is suitable for master
students in organic chemistry and related areas.
